New start-up creates one time use cigarette to curb teen vaping

WINSTON-SALEM, NC: With teenage vape use at an all-time high, a North Carolina company has developed a one-time use cigarette to help kids kick the habit. In recent years, e-cigarette companies have endured a wave of lawsuits challenging their marketing practices. Most claim that the advertising was directed at children. Advocacy groups have also claimed that e-cigarettes are designed to be addictive to teenagers. That is bad according to the advocacy group Advertising to Teens is Bad.
1 Time Cigs, Inc. is attacking the problem head-on. “We understand that teenagers are especially susceptible to nicotine addiction,” a company press release stated. “That’s why we’ve developed a naturally grown product that is good for only one use. The main problem with vaping is that the product can be used repeatedly without refilling each time.”
1 Time Cigs Inc. uses a naturally grown leaf in its product, which is wrapped in paper. “Our product contains a filter. The chemicals used in the production process only make the user addicted to one-time-use cigarettes instead of reusable e-cigarettes. The one-time-use cigarette burns away as the user smokes it, leaving just the filter.”
The one-time-use cigarettes come in small packages of 20 cigarettes. “We keep our packages small so that teenagers are limited to the number of cigarettes they can smoke at one time. If they want to smoke more, they’ll have to purchase another package or a carton, which holds 10 packages. Our product requires a lighter or matches to smoke. Teenagers don’t know how to use matches.”
One-time-use cigarettes will hit the shelves next month at all local convenience stores. “This is a great step forward,” stated a spokesperson for Advertising to Teens is Bad. “If only more companies would be as responsible as 1 Times Cigs Inc.”
